The Children Are Our Future (Problems)

Here’s my offering to the media soup: (the Heene patriarch talking to the media last night, to the sweet sounds of Daphne Oram.)

As in any reality show, the Colorado balloon saga has already divided its audience into the crying sympathizers and the raging haters. What an insane combination - the beautiful, sublime footage of the half-inflated silver balloon, spinning over the new construction suburbs of the Colorado Front Range, probably even passing within view of Rocky Flats. The question of whether or not the whole event was a deliberate publicity stunt by the parents is far superseded by the glimpse into the Heene house offered by this music video. Here we see the Heene boys, including little (Millenium?) Falcon, rapping about avoiding “pussification” through recklessness and science. This family appear to be tomorrow’s true scientific innovators - God Help Us.
