For this commissioned project in Grand Rapids, MI, I created a one-night public artwork that utilized cable-access television to create the illusion of a conversation in light between the windows of two tall buildings. Visitors to the more public of the two buildings could speak into a microphone that would cause a window across the river to flicker. The project imagined several audiences: speakers throwing their voice across the river; pedestrians in the city observing the two buildings; and viewers joining in from home.
